The accident occurred when a man was taking his three children -- Priyanshu (12), Tisha (10) and Christiana (5) -- to school on his scooter.
The man said after he crossed the Karkunj Crossing the scooter slipped because of large trenches on the road.
As they fell on the road, a brick-laden lorry ran over the three children, injuring them.
The three children were rushed to hospital by passersby, where one leg of Priyanshu had to be amputated, a doctor said.
The lorry driver, however, managed to flee.
They also pelted stones at policemen. Police had to lathi-charge and fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
SSP Shalabh Mathur said an investigation is on.
