According to police, victim Kamlesh Yadav (20) was stoned and stabbed to death on March 6 by his cousin Virendra Yadav (31) along with his two friends Mohammed Israr (20) and Rizwan Shaikh (18).
Kamlesh's body was later disposed off in an isolated location in Malwani and was recovered yesterday, nearly two months after the killing, they said.
Kamlesh and Virendra had a dispute over the ownership of a family house in Malwani area since few years. Besides this, the latter also suspected that Kamlesh was in an extra-marital relationship with his wife, police added.
"With these things in mind, enraged Virendra, along with his two friends killed Kamlesh and disposed off his body at an isolated location," A A Shaikh, senior inspector at Malwani police station said.
However, despite Kamlesh's sudden disappearance, nobody had registered any complaint with the police so far.
"We had information that Kamlesh could not be seen for a few days and that he used to have fights with his cousin brother and other relatives over a property issue," said a police officer.
"As we worked out further, we stumbled upon an information that Kamlesh could have been killed. On suspicion, the three were picked up yesterday, who confessed to the crime," he added.
The accused revealed how Kamlesh had been killed and where his body was dumped, police said adding that the skeleton was recovered from the spot.
Kamlesh's parents are on their way to Mumbai after they were informed about the incident, police said adding that the accused were remanded in police custody till May 11.
