Cops sustain injury

Three police men have been injured
when people of a particular community allegedly pelted stones at them protesting the removal of the statue of their leader Mutharaiyar, erected without permission, at Erumpatti in the district, police said today.
The statue was erected by the community people yesterday evening without police permission.
When police removed the statue in the night, a group of the community people gathered there and pelted stones at them following which police lathicharged them.
The injured policemen have admiited to hospital.
