The "Kong: Skull Island" actor will portray the role of civil rights activist Stokely Carmichael in the crime thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will be directed by Lee, who will also co- produce it with Jordon Peele.
Sean McKittrick, Shaun Redick, and Raymond Mansfield of QC Entertainment, and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions are on board to produce the project.
The film also features Adam Driver and John David Washington.
The story follows Ron Stallworth, a detective in Colorado Springs, Colorado, who in 1978 answered an ad for an hate group in the local newspaper seeking new members. He not only gained membership, but rose through the ranks to become the head of the local chapter.
