The 41-year-old actor is in talks to star alongside "La La Land" star Ryan Gosling, who will essay the role of Neil Armstrong, the first man to step on the moon, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie will be directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Damien Chazelle, who will reunite with Gosling for their second collaboration.
The script has been penned by Josh Singer, which is a first-person account of the Apollo 11 mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on the years 1961-1969.
The movie, being produced by Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen through their Temple Hill Entertainment banner, alongside Chazelle and Gosling.
The film is set to hit the screens on October 12, 2018.
