This was conveyed at a meeting of SP Parliamentary Board, the party's highest policy making body, here.
"At the meeting, party workers were alerted against false propaganda unleashed by BJP and Congress against SP. The party advised workers to counter it tooth and nail and highlight developmental works being done by the government," SP spokesperson Rajendra Chowdhury said.
The meeting also authorised SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to select candidates for five Legislative Council seats -- two for Teachers' constituency and three for Graduate constituency.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister and state president of SP Akhilesh Yadav said Opposition parties were unnecessarily creating hype over law-and-order situation and "false propaganda" was being spread.
Senior party leaders including Mata Prasad Pandey, Arvind Singh Gope, Ahmad Hasan and Balram Yadav were present.
