Couple assaulted for resisting indecent gestures

A 29-year-old businessman was allegedly attacked and severely injured by four inebriated men after he objected to their inappropriate gestures towards his fiancee in south Delhi's Chanakyapuri area, police said today.
Delhi Police registered a case on Saturday and one of the four accused has been arrested. The other three are absconding.
The youth, who is from Shalimar Bagh area of the national capital, was at a restaurant with the girl when the men passed obscene comments at her on Saturday.
"When the youth objected, one of the four attackers smashed a bottle on his head and assaulted the women," said a police official.

While three of the attackers managed to escape from the spot, one of them was arrested as the youth had somehow managed to get hold of him.
He has been given eight stitches on his head.
Although there were around eight-ten people, including bouncers and other lounge staff, no one came forward to help them, he said.
