Couple drown in pond

A couple drowned in a pond in
Momaimora village in Kutch district, police said today.
The bodies of Seedha Bharthari (24) and his wife Kanku Bharthari (20) were fished out from the pond today, they said.
"Bharthari and Kanku, hailing from Varahi village in Patan district, had come to Momaimora village yesterday to attend a religious function and then went to the pond," said assistant sub-inspector Shamshu Baria.
However, it is not clear how the duo drowned even though the police have registered a case of accidental death.
Baria said the family members of the duo had last night filed a missing complaint after the couple did not return their home.

The incident came to light when some women spotted a body floating in the pond this morning and informed police, which was later identified as that of Kanku's.
While fishing out Kanku's body, police also found Bharthari's body, Baria said.
