A senior police officer said the couple Rathin Mondal and Ankita Mondal were parents of the two-day old girl who was allegedly strangulated and then the body buried in the courtyard of their house on October 10.
Alarmed by foul smell and jackals frequenting the spot, neighbours dug up the earth and came across the body yesterday.
As they found the door of the house locked, police were called and in the ensuing manhunt the duo were netted from nearby Hemnagar area under the same block.
