Court posts Rio educational qualification hearing to Nov 11

A court in Kohima today deferred the hearing of the educational qualification issue of former Chief Minister of Nagaland and sitting Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio to November 11.
With lawyers of the complainant praying for adjournment for two weeks on the ground that they have moved the High Court seeking transfer of the case, the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate First Class (CJMFC) Tucuno Vamuzo deferred the hearing.
The hearing on the complaint filed by Rosemary Dzuvichu against Neiphiu Rio on charge of filing a false affidavit in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections commenced at CJMFC Vamuzo's court today after being shifted from CJMFC Mezivolu T Therieh's court following an appeal by the former CM.

Outside the court, Rio told reporters the Kohima College authorities had issued the certificate on December 12, 2012 but when he contested the state General Election in 2013, his affidavit was filed correctly as BA and not as BA (Honours) in Political Science.
"I have come to the court to prove my innocence," Rio added.
A similar case is also pending against Chief Minister T R Zeliang.
