Accusing the Congress-led UDF government of being "immersed" in corruption, veteran CPI leader A B Bardhan today demanded the resignation of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy over the solar panel scam.
Chandy should take responsibility for the scam and resign from the post, the former CPI general secretary said while inaugurating the 41th state meet of the party's student wing All India Students Federation (AISF) here.
"I do not understand why Chandy is not resigning even after evidences against the CM's Office came out," Bardhan said stressing the UDF government "is now immersed in corruption".
Terming the performance of the UDF government in Kerala a total failure, he said "It is following the footsteps of UPA government at the Centre in the matter of corruption."
The government cannot go forward neglecting people's protests. Chandy would have to answer all questions raised in this regard, he demanded.
The future of the country was solar energy. But the "corrupt government" in the state had changed it into a device to fulfil its greediness, he said referring to the scam in which several people had been cheated of crores of rupees after the key accused promised solar panel solutions by claiming they had influence in the government.
