CPI(M) asks EC to restrain of big parties spend on poll ads

CPI(M) today asked the Election Commission to restrain poll advertisements of big political parties in the media while removing curbs on parties relying on low-cost campaign.
"EC must restrain big parties' poll advts in media and remove curbs on parties relying on low-cost campaign," CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury tweeted in the micro-blogging website twitter.
He also expressed confidence the Election Commission would ensure "free and fair" polls in West Bengal "unlike" in the recently-held local body elections in the state.
