Police said P.L. Sundaram, representing Bhavanisagar Assembly constituency in the district, and party workers were taking part in a demonstration on behalf of the 'Tamil Maanila Vivasayigal Sangam' (Tamil Nadu State Agricultural Labourers Association) at Sathyamangalam, 65 km from here, yesterday.
They were protesting against the Dadri lynching and whatit called attack on rights of minorities and oppressed to consume the food they want.
While the demonstration was on, the MLA took out a packet and said he was consuming beef. He also distributed some pieces to demonstrators.
