The student and youth wings of the Communist Party of India (CPI) will go on a 15,000-km march across the country to "raise awareness" on issues like secularism, equality in education and recent mob lynchings.
The march, organised by All India Students' Federation (AISF) and All India Youth Federation (AIYF), is expected to begin on July 15 from Kanyakumari in South India and will spread across 18 states before it culminates in Hussainiwala in Punjab near the Pakistan border on September 12.
Speaking to reporters here, AISF national general secretary Vishwajeet Kumar said during the march there would be over 200 public meetings scheduled to spread awareness on different issues such as secularism, equality in education and mob lynchings.
"Rohit Vemula's mother Radhika Vemula would also join the protests besides other activists," Kumar said.
AIYF president Aftab Alam Khan said the march would also raise issues regarding implementation of Rozgar Guarantee Act and also the reasons for saving public sector companies.
Other issues that will be raised during the march include, electoral reforms, and reservations in the private sector.
