Medical superintendent-cum-vice-principal of the institution M A Rashid said while three infants died at the hospital since yesterday, 22 deaths were reported since Wednesday last.
The infants had been referred to Malda Medical College and Hospital from block primary health centres and were in critical condition, he said.
Majority of the infants who died in the last seven days were underweight, malnourished, and suffered from respiratory problems.
The hospital had witnessed many crib deaths last year.
