Crop assessment to take place up to Oct 15: Rajasthan govt

Assessment of kharif crop damaged due to scarcity of rains or excess rainfall began from September 15 and would continue till October 15, the state government said today.
On an issue raised by Congress' Sukhram Vishnoi during zero hour, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister G C Kataria assured that the government wanted to start girdwari (crop assessment) earlier from September one, then from September 7, but due to rainy season it could not be taken up.
Immediately after receiving the Girdwari report, the compensation to affected farmers and 'go-shalas' would begin, Kataria said.
Barring two districts in western Rajasthan, rainfall was average in the state, he said, without mentioning the names of districts.

On another issue of merger of schools and shifting of faculty due to shortage of students raised by Govind Singh Dotasar (Congress), Education Minister Kalicharan Saraf said the process of merger and shifting would be done as per the norms of Right to Education act.
Dotasar alleged that the BJP government had closed down 17,000 primary schools in the name of merger.
On the matter of Gram Panchayat and Panchayat Samiti's demarcation raised by BJP's Sanjeev Kumar, Panchayat Raj Minister assured the house that demarcation and reconstitution of Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayat would not be done on political or caste basis.

If the elected representatives have lodged their complaints with either Collector or Divisional Commissioner before September 11, then his Ministry would consider the complaints and redress them.
