A CRPF jawan suffered injuries in an encounter between security personnel and CPI(Maoists) in West Singhbhum district today, police sources said.
Acting on an information that a group of Maoists have assembled in Sarjamburu jungle, security personnel reached there when the naxals started firing.
A COBRA jawan was injured in the shootout and he was airlifted to Ranchi for treatment, the sources said.
COBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) is a specialised unit of the CRPF proficient in guerrilla tactics and jungle warfare.
Sources said the security personnel have recovered landmines during the operation.
The security team consisted of the personnel from CRPF, Cobra, Jharkhand Jaguar battalion and District Armed Police.
