CSBP delegation meets J&K Governor

A delegtion of Committee to Strengthen Border Protection (CSBP) led by its chairman and former Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta today met Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra here and discussed a wide range of issues related to internal and external security management including counter-infiltration measures.
Gupta along with members CSBP Deputy National Security Advisor Arvind Gupta, Advisor in the Ministry of Home Affairs K Vijay Kumar, former Secretary (Internal Security) in Ministry of Home Affairs Ashok Prasad and officers of the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) - Arvind Kumar and Shivananda - called on Vohra at Raj Bhavan, an official spokesperson said.
Gupta, who is here to evaluate border management, shared his assessment with the Governor about sustained attempts at cross-border infiltration and steps which would be required to further strengthen and plug any existing loopholes, the spokesperson said.
During his discussions with the Committee, the spokesman said the Governor recalled repeated terror attacks from across the IB and LoC in the state, particularly since 2012.
Vohra stressed that after the Pathankot Air Base attack it had become a matter of vital importance to review existing anti-infiltration arrangements on the ground, Area of Responsibility of the Northern Army Command, and ensure time bound further strengthening of the Counter Infiltration and Counter Terrorism Grids, particularly along the IB in Jammu region.
The Governor also discussed with the Committee several other issues relating to internal and external security management in the state and in neighbouring Punjab, the spokesperson said.
