West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has congratulated the Calcutta University for moving up on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking from 27 to 21.
Vice-Chancellor Sonali Chakraborty Basu said today the Banerjee has congratulated CU for having secured better NIRF ranking, created by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development.
"I am happy to note that University of Calcutta has not only consolidated its position but also improved overall ranking among the academic institutions from 27th rank in 2017 to 21st rank in 2018 by improving upon various parameters of evaluation and assessment," the letter said.
The CM said her government stood committed to providing requisite resources for the continued pursuit of academic excellence in the institution.
