He also said that the Cauvery Water Management Board (CWMB), which is to be formed by the Centre on the direction of the Supreme Court, will have representatives from both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
"The water management boards could be the ideal option for resolving dispute between the states, including Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The Cauvery Water Management Board (CWMB) will have representation from both the states," Central Water Commission (CWC) Chairman G S Jha said here on sidelines of an Assocham event.
The Supreme Court yesterday directed the Centre to constitute within four weeks the Cauvery Water Management Board (CWMB) as directed by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) in its award.
It also directed the Karnataka government to release 6,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu from today till September 27.
