Lucideus Technologies, an IT Risk Assessment and Digital Security Services provider, is setting up a "cyber war room" at Bannariamman Institute of Technology in nearby Erode district, for grooming students to combat increasing cyber crime, a top company official said Saturday.
The "war room", claimed to be the first such in India, would be launched by the next academic year," Lucideus co-founder and CEO, Saket Modi told reporters here.
Modalities like investment and equipment and gadgets, are being worked out, he said.
Modi, here to address an awareness session in Secured Digital India, presented an overview on the overall cyber security of government departments, private sector and academia. He claimed 80 per cent of technologies have become obsolete in the last two decades.
In his address, DIG Coimbatore range G Karthikeyan said 12,317 incidents of cyber crime were reported in India in 2016.
City Police Commissioner Sumit Sharan said India had 465 million internet users in 2017 and cyber security needs adequate importance as the country is facing the third highest number of cyber attacks among countries.
