seven members of a criminal gang, police today claimed to have foiled a major dacoity in Berhampur or nearby areas, police said today.
The seven were caught near Lathi on the outskirt of the town and three swords, some crude bombs, three mobile phones seized from them during a raid on Friday night, said Inspector In-charge of Bada Bazar police station, A K Mohanty.
The accused members, who belong to Berhampur town and its adjoining villages, were planning a major dacoity in the area when they were nabbed, he said adding several criminal cases were pending against them.
