Police today recovered the body of a dalit man in a village in Bihar's Vaishali district, a police officer said.
The battered body was identified as that of Vinod Kumar Ram (35) from a Shahbad village, Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh said.
He was murdered by unidentified assailants apparently in retaliation to lynching of one Amar Kumar Rai (25), hailing from the same village three days ago, by some villagers on the charge of raping Ram's wife, he said.
Ram had been absconding since Rai's murder, Singh said.
The body was being sent for post-mortem and a probe was on, the Inspector said.
