The 36-year-old actor said he will play Baron Helmut Zemo who is depicted as a Nazi scientist and weapon expert in the comics, reported Ace Showbiz.
"I think I can tell you that without being thrown into Marvel prison ... ," he joked.
"For the first few days I'll walk around like a little boy, just amazed by the megalomania of it. It's such a huge project. We could do 20 films with the budget."
His villainous character is rumoured to have a smaller role in the upcoming third "Captain America" movie before later returning to take the role of a primary antagonist in a "Doctor Strange" stand-alone movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
