Daniel Lalrampuia scored a hatrick to guide AIFF U-19 to an easy 3-0 win over Goa Velha in the Preliminary Qualifying round of the Durand Cup football at Signals ground here today.
AIFF U-19 boys dominated the match with quick short passes and could have led by a couple of goals but Prashanth K
Header was tipped over the bar by rival keeper Sidesh Morje.
Few minutes later, Prashanth was again in thick of action but was late in connecting a cross from the right by Amey.
Milan Basumatry, who was the hero in the last match, had a chance to put his team up early in the match but his attempt at the goal hit the post to have both the teams going into the break without scoring.
Prashant who was found wanting on the flank was replaced by Kamalpreet Singh after the break and this changed the complexion of the game as the young turks from AIFF looked more sharp in the attack, taking the lead in the 53rd minute.
Kamalpreet who worked his way on the right send a low measured cross into the box for Lalrampuia who controlled the ball and uncorked a shot which deflected rival keeper hands and went in the 53rd minute.
The goal spurred AIFF to go more into attacking mode and Lalrampuia scored two more goals in quick succession for the second hatrick of the tournament and take the match away from the Goan side.
