Dasuya Assembly by-poll passes off peacefully, 70 pc turnout
The bye-election was necessitated due to death of SAD MLA Amarjit Singh Sahi recently.
Despite sultry weather, people in large numbers, including women and senior citizens, cast their ballots enthusiastically.
Polling, which started at 8 am, ended peacefully ended at 5 pm, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Dipinder Singh said.
SSP Balkar Singh Sidhu said no untoward incident has been reported from any corner of the constituency during polling.
Counting will take place on July 14.
Three candidates - Sukhjit Kaur (BJP-SAD), Arun Dogra (Congress) and Bhupinder Singh Ghuman (PPP) - are in the fray.
