Noted tribal leader and former Odisha MLA Dayanidhi Kissan died at a hospital here today after a fall, family sources said.
Kissan (64) is survived by wife and two sons.
A former MLA from Bonai assembly constituency in Sundargarh district, Kissan was also an ex-Chairman of Rourkela Development Authority (RDA).
Kissan was admitted to Ispat General Hospital here after he fell from the terrace of his building this morning and later succumbed to his injuries, sources said.
His death has brought a pall of gloom in the entire Bonai constituency, which he had represented as a BJP MLA in 2000. Later he joined BJD and was appointed as Chairman of RDA in 2011 for two years.
Kissan fought the 2014 assembly election on BJD ticket but lost to Laxman Munda of CPI(M).
