DC directs BDOs to complete toilet construction work by June15

The Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum district Amit Kumar has directed all the Block Development Officers (BDOs) to complete the construction of toilets, as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, by June 15.

The district administration has set June 15 as the deadline to declare the district as open defecation free (ODF), officials said.

In a review meeting of the Swachh Bharat Mission yesterday, Kumar directed the BDOs to ensure speedy construction of toilets by June 15.

The deputy commissioner also sought explanation from the officials and supervisors of Swachh Bharat Mission about the progress of work and ordered that the salaries of the erring officials be withheld, they said.

Kumar also issued directives for the dismissal of the block co-ordinator of Baharagora block for failing to meet the set deadline.

Twelve junior engineers engaged in Swachh Bharat Mission campaign were also show caused for their absence, the officials said.
