Cable operators are bound by law of the land for carriage of nine Doordarshan channels -- five in prime band and four in non-prime band, Programme Executive of DD Jammu S L Kaul said.
The cable operators should carry Doordarshan channels on the prescribed bands so that viewers get good quality transmission, this was decided at a meeting, headed by Deputy Director General (DDG), DD Jammu, Shabir Mujahid, here today.
Mujahid said Doordarshan, a public service broadcaster, is always committed to fulfil the aspiration of lakhs of viewers living across the Jammu region besides, showcasing rich cultural milieu of the region.
In order to implement the Cable Act of India properly in the state, DD Kendra needs help from members of the civil society. It is alleged that the cable operators do not transmit any channel on the cable service in the same frequency band which Doordarshan terrestrial channels are transmitted.
