The newly formed Jammu and Kashmir Peoples United Front (JKPUF) today resolved to defeat all nefarious designs which aim at dividing the Jammu and Kashmir on regional, racial or communal lines.
"Defeat all those nefarious designs which aim at dividing the state of Jammu and Kashmir on regional, racial or communal lines", State Secretary CPI(M) and convener JKPUF Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said during a day-long convention here.
The leaders of the front alleged that the successive governments and some narrow minded power hungry political parties have adopted the imperialist policy of divide and rule in the state for their vested interest and electoral gains.
The divisive policies need to be changed at the earliest as the same are eating into the vitals of the common people, they added.
Tarigami, who also concluded the convention made it clear that the formation of the front is not limited to the electoral exercise.
"We have to fight obscurantist forces, struggle for the unity of the state, safeguard our age old secular traditions, root out corruption, address the burning problems of the unemployed youth and enable the common man to live an exploitation free comfortable and dignified life," he said.
Several marginal political outfits on October 30 floated JKPUF, a 'Third Front' meant to provide alternative policies to those of major political outfits in the state.
The other constituents of the 'Third Front' are Sheikh Abdul Rehman (Samajwadi Party), Sanjay Saraf (Lok Jana Shakti Party), Abdul Rehman Tukru (CPI), independent MLA from Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin and former member of Parliament Abdul Rashid Kabuli.
