Honorary adviser to Assam department of health and family welfare Dr Nibedita Borthakur Sondhi today met Sonowal and narrated him the incident at the club.
A Meghalaya woman has alleged that she was turfed out of the dining room of The Delhi Golf Club because her traditional Khasi attire looked like a "maid's uniform" to the staffers.
Immediately after getting information of the alleged incident, Sonowal called up Rijiju and expressed his anguish, describing the incident as despicable and condemnable, a government release said here tonight.
The chief minister urged Rijiju to take exemplary step against The Delhi Golf Club, which will act as a deterrent towards such discriminatory attitude in future.
Dr Nibedita Borthakur also told Sonowal that she will take up the matter with the National Commission for Scheduled Tribe, to which Sonowal assured all assistance from the state government, the release added.
