With transporters and traders facing shortage of cash due to demonetisation of Rs 500/1000 currency notes, the Delhi government today decided to exempt entry and unloading fee till November 24 for vehicles coming to the city's wholesale fruits and vegetable markets.
Delhi Development Minister Gopal Rai said a file in this regard has been sent to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to seek his approval to implement the government's decision.
"Delhi government has decided to exempt entry n unloading fee for vehicles coming to mandis till November 24. File sent to LG," Rai tweeted.
The Arvind Kejriwal government had yesterday also decided to move the court seeking exemption of "green tax" levied on trucks entering in Delhi till December 31, as transporters were facing cash-crunch after demonetisation of high value banknotes.
In a meeting with about 200 transporters, the Delhi Chief Minister had said "His government will move court seeking its directions not to impose green tax on trucks entering Delhi till December 31."
Kejriwal and his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee had yesterday addressed a rally of farmers, traders and labourers at Azadpur Mandi here against the scrapping of high value currency notes.
The AAP chief has asked the Centre to roll it back in three days while the TMC supremo said such a crisis was not seen even during Emergency.
