Constable Raj Karan was arrested from Kalindi Kunj area on Monday after the Vigilance branch of Delhi Police received a complaint from the labour contractor, R K Jha, DCP (Vigilance), said.
In the complaint, the labour contractor said the constable had on May 25 stopped his truck in Jaitpur and demanded Rs 10,000 and also threatened to seize the vehicle. After bargaining, the complainant agreed to pay Rs 7,000 in a few days.
The accused repeatedly called the complainant demanding money, the DCP said.
The constable was recently transferred from the South-East District and posted to the Security Unit, the officer said.
The accused has been charged under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, he said.
