Delhi Police investigating threat letter received by BJP MP

A BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh has claimed to have received a threat letter, purportedly from a Maoist group, over Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's proposed visit to a town on the Indo-Nepal border in UP's Maharajganj, police said today.
The matter was reported at Tilak Marg police station today and an FIR has been registered under Sections 506 and 507 of IPC, said DCP (New Delhi), Vijay Singh.
Pankaj Choudhary, the Maharajganj MP, has also submitted a copy of the purported threat letter to the police and an inquiry into the matter was taken up immediately, said Singh.
The letter purportedly threatens that Choudhary, his son, or daughter may be targeted if the Home Minister delivers any new promise or announces any new development scheme pertaining to the Indo-Nepal border stretch falling in Maharajganj constituency.

The group behind the letter has claimed that it found out through its own sources about the Home Minister's scheduled visit to Sonauli town and Thuthibari village on August 28. It also claimed to have called up Choudhary's personal secretary in the past and threatened him in a similar manner.
The group further claimed that they had sent the letter to Choudhary only after his secretary ignored their threat call.
