Delhi sizzles at 44 degrees

The national capital today reeled under a heatwave with the mercury soaring beyond 44 degrees Celsius in some parts of the city.
The Safdarjung observatory, whose recording is considered the official figure for the city, registered a maximum temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average.
Areas under Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar observatories recorded maximum temperatures of 44, 42.2, 42.2 and 43.6 degrees Celsius, respectively, said a MeT department official.
The minimum temperature settled at 27.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the normal, the official said.
The humidity level oscillated between 60 and 19 per cent.

The MeT office forecast overcast conditions for tomorrow with the likelihood of rain, thunderstorm and dust storm for tomorrow.

"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 41 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively," the weatherman said.
According to the MeT office, one or two spells of thunderstorm and dust storm is likely to occur over Delhi and NCR from today till May 11 evening.
Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.3 degrees Celsius, while the maximum settled at 44.1 degrees Celsius.
