Delhi traffic advisory for Muharram

Anticipating traffic congestion on Muharram which will be observed tomorrow, Delhi Traffic Police today issued an advisory for people to take alternative routes to avoid jams.
According to the advisory, Tazia a procession will start from Shia Jama Masjid to Panja Sharif via Kashmere Gate, Chabi Ganj, Chota Bazar and Bada bazar.
Another procession is to start tonight from Chatta Shahzad and end at Hauz Qazi, while the processions commencing from Nizamuddin, Okhla and Mehrauli will reach Karbala directly.
"People going to New Delhi Railway station tomorrow can expect some traffic problems, they must try to avoid Connaught Place and reach Ajmeri Gate through Tilak Marg, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg or through Rajghat and Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg depending on movement of procession," Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla said.
Some buses have been rerouted to avoid congestion. Buses from Desh Bandhu Gupta Road towards New Delhi Railway Station will be terminated at Aram Bagh.
Buses from Desh Bandhu Gupta Road towards Connaught Place and Central Secretariat will take Rani Jhansi Road-Mandir Marg-Park Street and will terminate at Udyan Marg, Shukla said.
"Buses coming from East and Central District on DND Chowk bound for Connaught Place and Central Secretariat will take Sikandra Road and terminate at Mandi House and on return these will take Bhagwan Dass road-Tilak marg," he said.
Passengers have been advised to take Metro trains to avoid inconvenience.
