Delhi wakes up to a cloudy morning, mercury dips

Delhiites woke up to a pleasant morning today as the city remained enveloped by cloud cover after witnessing overnight rains.
Overcast conditions greeted the spectators who had gathered to witness the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort.
Large number of people also thronged the India Gate lawns as weather remained pleasant throughout the day.
According to the MeT department, the national capital received 8.6 mm of rainfall till this morning. Some parts of the city received scattered rains at around 9 AM.
At 11:30 AM today, the temperature at Safdurjung weather station was recorded at 28.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in the city remained below normal.
Mercury last night had settled at 24.8 degrees Celsius, which was two notches below normal, and significantly down from the previous 26.1 degree Celsius.
MeT forecasts a cloudy sky, with possibility of rains or thundershowers in some areas.
