An emergency meeting of party leaders and legal experts would be held tomorrow in Chandigarh to discuss the matter, Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa said here.
A petition would be filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court challening the delimitation of wards for Panchayat elections, he said.
The petition would be filed within two days, Bajwa said alleging the exercise was conducted in an arbitrary manner.
The delimitation exercise by the SAD-BJP government was intended to win Panchayat polls "by hook or by crook", he said.
He said the Congress would request the High Court to allow e-filing of nominations by candidates for Panchayat polls.
Bajwa said in the past nomination papers of a large number of Congress workers were rejected en-masse without any reason.
Bajwa said his party would launch a state-wide stir within a week against hike in power rates and on other issues like property tax and illegal mining.
