A West Bengal MP today demanded that the government come up with a revival package for the jute industry in the state.
Raising the issue as a special mention in the Lok Sabha, Trinamool Congress member Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said lakhs of people are involved in the jute sector.
Noting that the jute industry is facing difficult times, she said the central government should announce a package for the industry.
Congress member Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said incidents of communal violence are on the rise and demanded the issue be discussed in the House.
"Don't know whether the government is afraid to discuss the issue of communal violence," he said.
