The Indian IT industry would benefit in a big way due to the demonetisation drive if it is able to adapt to changed scenario, Nasscom said today.
Nasscom Chairman C P Gurnani said the IT industry body wants to discuss with the Government on how it can contribute to achieving aims behind the drive in terms of solutions and applications.
"The biggest beneficiary of the demonetisation drive is going to be the Indian IT industry if it is able to adapt itself to the solutions that are required," he told reporters here on the sidelines of a conclave on cyber security.
Asked if Nasscom is going to deliberate on ways to cash in on the opportunity, he said it is question of the industry proposing to the Government.
"I think it is more of us giving proposals. I just discussed with Dr Ajay Kumar (Additional Secretary, MEITY- Ministry of Electronics and IT). I said, 'I want to come and discuss with you. Because, I think, in lot of areas, the need for data analytics, the need for mass availability of applications which can be readily used in a multi-lingual environment'.
Replying to a query, Gurnani said the transition of power in the US and the Brexit-Europe are among the reasons for reducing the growth forecast for the IT industry.
Nasscom would deliberate on how to re-energise the industry at a meeting in Bhubaneswar next week, he said.
Asked if the lower growth in the industry would affect jobs, he said it would have an impact on workforce "if people don't change".
