Dera Sacha Sauda opens Skin bank in Haryana

Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda, a religious sect, has set up a Skin bank at a hospital here, to help patients who had accidents or grievous burn injuries.
Sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh inaugurated the new global skin bank in the Shah Satnam Speciality Hospital recently, a Dera spokesman said here today.
The revenue that was generated from the movie 'MSG 2 - The Messenger' has been invested in this skin bank, he said.
The Dera spokesman said that skin can be donated during the first 6 hours after death.
"The donated skin is very helpful during surgeries of patients who had accidents or got burnt by fire or acid," he said.

The skin bank can keep the skin safe for the future for up to five years, he said.

The bank is equipped with modern medical machines including an incubator, bio-safety cabinet, hot air oven, dermatome, skin graft mesher and cold room.
He said that the revenue from the third movie-- 'Lion Heart' is being used for another speciality hospital.
This particular hospital is dedicated to the treatment of the patients with the help of stem cell technology, he said.
He said the hospital is also planning to start research on DNA repair technology.
