Notwithstanding cloudy conditions, the maximum temperature in the state capital breached the 37-degree Celsius mark on Sunday, the weather man said.
While the maximum temperature recorded in Lucknow was 37.4 degree Celsius, four notches above normal, the minimum temperature was 28.6 degree Celsius, the department said.
Allahabad was the hottest city in the state, where the maximum temperature was 40 degree Celsius.
Parts of the state received rain. Ballia recorded 33.2 mm rain, Basti 32 mm, Varanasi 15.4 mm, Sultanpur 12.2 mm, Hardoi 9.0 mm and Agra 6.4 mm, according to the meteorological department.
The department said rain/thundershower is "very likely" to occur at isolated places over the state on July 22.
Rain/thundershower is predicted in isolated places in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh on July 23 and most places in western and eastern UP on July 24.
