Akali Dal will contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on the plank of development and performance, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said here today.
Sukhbir accused the Congress-led UPA government of being involved in several scams and said it should be removed from power at the Centre.
After addressing a function, organised by former Congress Minister Avtar Singh Brar, who recently joined Shiromani Akali Dal and has been appointed as Chairman of PEPSU Road Transport Corporation, Sukhbir said Congress had no issues to highlight in the poll campaign.
While, the SAD-BJP government's performance and development in Punjab, would be the poll plank of the ruling alliance in Lok Sabha elections.
Taking a dig at former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, PPCC Chief Partap Singh Bajwa and former Congress MP Jagmeet Singh Brar, Sukhbir said the trio did nothing for the state.
When asked about AAP's agenda of providing subsidised water and proposed welfare plans, he said that Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has implemented these schemes two decades ago and "it was not a new thing for Akali Dal as it was the pet project of our CM."
AAP was simply imitating the programmes of SAD-BJP government of Punjab, he said.
