Dhanvantari award for S K Sarin

Eminent gastroenterologist and director of Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences S K Sarin has been chosen for the prestigious Dhanvantri award.
Sarin has been selected for the 42nd annual award in recognition for his significant contribution in curing liver disorders.
He is a recipient of many national and international awards including Padma Bhushan and Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar award. Sarin has more than 350 publications to his credit.
He is credited globally for pioneering a number treatment protocols for curing patients with hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver
The prestigious award, which recognises contribution in medical science, is awarded annually since 1972. The recipients of the award include Denton A Cooley of the US and pioneer heart transplant surgeon Christiaan Neethling Barnard of South Africa.
The award will be presented to Sarin on October 27 at a function here. He will also deliver a talk on advances in the management of liver disorders on the occasion.
