"The Dhola-Sadia bridge would not only ease hardship of the people of Sadia but also fulfil a vital requirement in terms of the country's defence perspective as Arunachal Pradesh shares boundary with China," Sonowal said.
The 9.16 km bridge, the longest one of the country, linking Sadia in Assam and Dhola in Arunachal Pradesh would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Holding a high level review meeting here in upper Assam, he directed the bridge construction company to complete construction works within May 22.
Sonowal also visited the proposed construction site of an extended campus of Indian Council of Agricultural Research at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district where the prime minister would lay the foundation stone of the project on May 26.
