DMK wants proper enumeration of families hit by heavy rains

: Opposition DMK today demanded that Puducherry government take up proper enumeration of families hit by heavy rains early this month so that relief as per quantum of damages could be finalised and disbursed.
A resolution adopted at a meeting of office bearers of the south wing of DMK, held under the chairmanship of the convenor and former legislator R.Siva said the rains had caused extensive damage to infrastructures like roads.
Drinking water to residents in areas like Nellithope was also unhygienic with the slush and sediments of the drainage getting mixed with drinking water, it said.
The resolution wanted government to look into this and ensure that clean water was available in most rain hit areas.

The Corporation for welfare of Minorities should also ensure that financial aid of Rs 25,000 was available to eligible persons, it said.
People living in low lying areas should be provided tenements and the authorities concerned should take steps to ensure accommodation for the homeless, another resolution said.
