Dr Sarada Menon conferred Avvaiyaar award

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today gave away the Avvaiyaar Award for the year 2016 to Dr Sarada Menon, well-known psychiatrist and founder of Schizophrenia Care and Research Foundation (SCARF).
Menon, a former head of state-run Institute of Mental Health, is a Padma Bhushan recipient and her name for the award was announced in March this year in "recognition of her services", especially through SCARF, an official release said.
Jayalalithaa gave away the award to Dr Menon at the Secretariat here. The award comprises Rs one lakh cash, 8 gm gold medal and a silk shawl.
Jayalalithaa wished Dr Menon with "many more years of good health and services to the people," the release said.
In her acceptance speech, Dr Menon hailed Jayalalithaa for being "very sympathetic, supportive and helpful regarding all services rendered to the mentally ill/disabled" and recalled the Chief Minister's " all support" to SCARF in 1995.
The factors taken into consideration include key goals and
initiatives under the three broad categories of Organizational Structure, Learning & Development (L&D) and Employee Engagement.

In the year 2015, the recognition was awarded to Piaggio Vehicles for their comprehensive culture change program which aimed to meet their challenges of talent attraction, retention and employee engagement. The runner up prize was presented to Ericsson India for their exceptional commitment to developing their workforce.
