Addressing a party workers' meeting at Ukta Pichkuri school ground at Ousgram, 45 km from Burdwan town, Mondal alleged that the few CPI(M) workers who were active in the area should be drowned in the canal after beating them up.
"If you (CPI-M workers) want to do politics, do it honestly. Don't throw bricks from the back, lest we throw arrows at your chests," Mondal, who is Birbhum district TMC president, allegedly told party workers.
In a public meeting at Katwa in Birbhum district in November 2013, Mondal had threatened to cut off the hands of Congress workers who try to damage the hoardings of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, prompting Bengal Congress president Pradip Bhattacharya to write a letter to the State Election Commission urging stringent action.
