Drunk driver mows down three; arrested

: An inebirated car driver heading home after a late night party with his friends mowed down three persons sleeping on the pavement on Velachery-Taramani road early today, killing them on the spot and was arrested along with his co-passenger, police said.
They said three persons were heading home in a car to Perungudi after the party. The person driving the vehicle lost control and mowed down a couple, who were rag pickers and another woman, all of whom were sleeping on the pavement.
They were rushed to Government Royapettah Hospital where they were declared brought dead.
The identity of the other woman is yet to be ascertained.

While the car driver and his co passenger were arrested, another person was absconding, police said.
They said the car driver claimed his co-passenger was behind the wheel while the latter claimed that his friend was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.
