DSP arrested for abusing wife

A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at Karimnagar has been arrested on charge of "abusing" his wife, police said today.
K Venkateswara Rao, the DSP with 17 Battallion of Andhra Pradesh Special Police, was arrested yesterday by the Miyapur police from Vijayawada, they said.
Rao was today remanded in judicial custody by a local court, they added.
Based on a complaint by his wife, the Miyapur police in January had registered a case against the DSP on allegations that he abused her, an investigation officer said.
The DSP was booked on charges of assault and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of IPC, he said.
